Just 2 weeks after my 2013 season kicked off at Oulton Park in the British GT, I was off to Donington for the first round of the Britcar Endurance Series. I am competing for FauldSport in their Ginetta G55 Cup car partnering Flick Haigh.
We were positive going into the weekend and after qualifying things looked great. We qualified in second position behind the BMW M3 GTR that was 2 seconds quicker than anything in our class!
Flick started the race and she drove an outstanding stint challenging the class 1 cars for position! Flick brought the car in for the driver change in second position. After a few laps I passed the BMW and started to pull out a lead. However behind me was the Chevron GT4 car driven by Anthony Reid on brand new wets lapping 3 seconds a lap quicker than us on worn wets.
The chevron passed me down the Craner Curves as it was able to carry a lot more speed through the fast corners. This was 5 laps before the end of the race. I continued to fight the conditions and brought the car home in 2nd place, starting the season off with some solid points.
I think this is a fantastic start to our Britcar season and I am looking forward to my next race.
